European Leaders Condemn US Action as ‘Coercion’
Officials from Europe including Emmanuel Macron accused Washington of “coercion and intimidation”, following the travel bans targeted individuals who have been at the heart of campaigns to introduce laws governing American tech companies.
“For too long, ideologues in Europe have led coordinated campaigns to pressure American platforms to punish US perspectives they disagree with,” wrote the US secretary of state in a social media post. “This government will not stand for these egregious acts of extraterritorial censorship.”

The bans were imposed on Tuesday against an ex-European commissioner who helped draft the EU’s Digital Services Act (DSA), as well as four activists fighting false information, from Germany and the United Kingdom.
